Responsibilities:

Responsible for issuing Marriage Licenses (during Office Hours & by Appointment only), Dog Licenses, Gaming Licenses, Hunting & Fishing Licenses, Death Certificates, Town & County Tax Collection, Water Collection, issuing Accessible (Handicap) Parking Permits, Peddler's Permits, and assisting with Genealogy searches.

The Town Clerk is also responsible for legal notice postings, Town facility reservations, and is the custodian of all Town records as the Records Management Officer.

Notary Public services are also available.

Accessible (Handicap) Parking Permit

For Town of Verona residents only.  You must have a completed form from your doctor and show current driver's license.  Permits are available at no charge and only one (1) permit is granted per resident.

The following certified copies are available for $10.00 each.  Cash, Check, or Credit/Debit cards accepted as a mode of payment.  Please complete & submit an application request along with your payment:  Birth Certificates, Death Certificates, Marriage Certificates.

Debit & Credit Card Payments

Debit and credit card payments can now be received for all services provided by the Town Clerk's Office.  All card sales shall be subject to a 2.75% service fee with a minimum fee of $1.75.  Click QUICKPAY.

Current rabies certificate is required and a sterility certificate (if applicable).  Residents and/or Veterinarians can email or fax the certificates to the Town Clerk.

If getting rabies vaccinations from a rabies clinic e.g. TSC PetVet, County please keep your receipts as this has the information we need.

Genealogy Search

The Town of Verona’s birth, death, and marriage records date back to circa 1880.  The genealogy search fee is $22.00 per copy for a standard three (3) year search.  The fee is for each name and/or type of record requested, and increases for a longer period search (see below).  If your request yields no results, we will issue a No Record Certification and the fee is not refunded.  Please complete & submit a request form along with your payment.  Cash, Check, or Credit/Debit cards accepted as a mode of payment.

Long Search:  If you do not know the approximate year of the event, a search greater than the standard three (3) years will be subject to the following fee schedule for each record requested.

          1-3 years             $22.00                 31-40 years        $102.00

        4-10 years             $42.00                 41-50 years        $122.00

       11-20 years            $62.00                 51-60 years        $142.00

Hunting & Fishing Licenses

The Town Clerk's office is now selling Hunting and Fishing Licenses.  Cash or Credit/Debit cards accepted as a mode of payment.

If previously married, a Divorce Decree or Certificate of Death is required.

Notary

Free of charge for Town of Verona residents.  $2.00 for Non-Residents.  Driver's License or photo ID with signature required.  The Notary Public must actually watch as you sign the document.  They must also validate your identity to be certain you are authorized to sign.  So, DO NOT SIGN your document before meeting the Notary Public.  The Notary Public will either refuse your document or require that you sign it again in front of them.

Retention and Disposition Schedule

The Retention and Disposition Schedule for New York Local Government Records (LGS-1) is a single, comprehensive retention schedule covering records of all types of local governments.  The New York State Archives authorizes the retention and disposition of local government records and provides this authority through the issuance of records retention and disposition schedules.

Tax Collector

The Town Clerk is NOT the Tax Collector for School Taxes.  Refer to the top of your bill for mailing and in-person payment information or click ... School Tax - TaxLookup.

For Town & County Tax payments, we accept cash, check/bank check, money order, and credit/debit cards.

Payments can be made in the following ways:

MAIL:  Make checks payable to Verona Tax Collector, 6600 Germany Road, Durhamville, NY 13054.  Please include your phone number on your check.  For a receipt, mail the entire bill with payment and tick the box.

IN PERSON:   6600 Germany Road, Durhamville, NY 13054.  Excluding legal holidays during business hours.  If you must pay in cash please have EXACT change.

DROP BOX:  Located at the front entrance of the Town of Verona Office and to the left of the main door.

ONLINE:  Go to the Town website at www.townverona.org and click on the 'Property Tax' icon or click ... TaxGlance.  Enter only ONE of the search items to access your tax bill/record and click on the payment button.

Taxes are due by January 31st without penalty.

Taxes paid in February are assessed a 1.00% penalty plus a fee of $2.00.  (refer to the Penalty Schedule on your Tax bill for the exact amount due)

Taxes paid in March are assessed a 1.50% penalty plus a fee of $2.00.  (refer to the Penalty Schedule on your Tax bill for the exact amount due)

On April 1st, all taxes are returned for collection to:  Oneida County Finance Department, 800 Park Avenue, Utica, NY 13501
